David Leandro received his bachelor's degree in Sports and Physical Activity Science from the Universidad Miguel Hernandez de Elche (Spain) and his Master’s degree in Sports Technology from Aalborg University (Denmark).
During his master he focused on building a strong musculoskeletal modeling background. With a highlight on his master thesis where he developed and evaluated a subject-specific natural lower limb model. Afterwards he joined as research assistant the biomechanical group from Aalborg University, where he worked on the development of an ultrasound-based tibiofemoral motion capture system.

PhD Project
As a motivated individual to improve human motion and quality of life through biomechanical research, the main goal of his studies is to optimize total knee replacement implant position. Specifically, David Leandro will use musculoskeletal modeling, patient-specific medical images and reported outcome measures to optimize the pre-operative planning in total knee replacements. Which will eventually improve the surgical outcome and increase satisfaction rates after total knee arthroplasty.
