Maria Paz obtained in 2012 a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Zaragoza (Spain). She completed her studies in 2013 with a M. Sc. in Biomedical Engineering. Maria Paz combined her studies at University of Zaragoza with research projects within the group M2BE. In these projects she worked together with surgeons of the hospital Lozano Blesa, performing studies about knee and hip implants. After this, she decided to tackle new challenges outside academia, where she held different positions such as Product Manager or Supplier Quality Engineer in automotive industry. After 3 years in this field, her passion for biomechanics and the possibility to work on it in a business-oriented environment brought her back to the medical field. She is currently working as Research Engineer for Materialise, developing a Pre-planning tool for Total Knee Arthroplasty as part of her PhD. Her experience in both academia and industry fields provided her with a combination of remarkable problem-solving and organizational skills, as well as a team player and continuous improvement mindset.
